Elementary Half Day Kindergarten Prep

COURSE PACKAGE DESCRIPTION

Using a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate, this class is designed for students who need an extra year of social emotional development and foundational academic skills before starting Kindergarten. Students may enroll in this class if they turn four before September 1 and they display social and emotional skills appropriate to grade level.

Please note that after classes begin, Star reserves the right to move a student to a different grade level if a student’s social, emotional and/or academic skills are not in alignment with grade level expectations.

History: Students will learn about family and culture, how to be a good citizen, basic geography, maps, and beginning economics concepts.

Fine Arts/Music: Students will explore art through various mediums including paint, clay, collage, drawing and other means of art media. They will be introduced to artists, art terminology and types of art. For the music portion, students will be introduced to music theory, and explore music through rhythm, beat, dynamics, pitch and performance.
