COURSE DESCRIPTION A
Essentials of Science is for high school students and rotates course focus. This year we offer session A in Physical Science with Lab.
A: Physical Science – This course focuses on giving students essential concepts in the areas of Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Science.
B: Biology – This course focuses on giving students essential concepts in the study of Biology. Topically, students will study the science of life, the chemistry of life, ecology, genetics, bacteria, viruses, protists, fungi, plants, and animals. The theory of evolution is also evaluated through a Biblical worldview. Students will complete experiments as well as dissections.
The text has a conversational tone, and concepts are explained in an easy-to-understand way. The Student Notebook helps students process the information in an organized way, as well as teaches them important study skills, note-taking, and how to write lab reports. The text has an audiobook to support student learning needs. Class instruction will focus on hands-on experiments and activities. This course will help students meet science requirements for a high school diploma.
