Elementary Half Day Grades 1-2

COURSE PACKAGE DESCRIPTION

This year–long course for grade 1 or 2 will include an introduction to history, music and art using various teaching materials.

History: Students will explore history through hands-on activities, games, projects and more! Each year-long study focuses on a time period of history. We follow a three year cycle of Ancient History, Middle Ages, and Early American/California history. Please refer to the Elementary Academics Curriculum Book List for this year’s emphasis. The goal is that each student will go through these three time periods once in 1st-3rd grade and then again at a deeper level in 4th-6th grade.

Fine Arts/Music: Students will explore art through various mediums including paint, clay, collage, drawing and other means of art media. They will be introduced to artists, art terminology and types of art. For the Music portion, students will be introduced to music theory, and explore music through rhythm, beat, dynamics, pitch and performance.
