This year-long course package for grades 7 and 8, offers History, Fine Arts and PE to round out all subjects needed for a Middle School student when taken in conjunction with the Full Day Middle School package. 7th and 8th grade students follow a 2 year cycle for history and geography that picks up where our Elementary students leave off on the history timeline. (Our Monday 7th- 8th Language Arts classes also follow this same history time period with writing and literature.) In history class, students will explore the rich tapestry of history and geography through interactive lessons, activities, and discussions. As students journey through key events, figures, and themes that have shaped our world, students will develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of historical events and their relevance to today’s world.
Year A- U.S. History: emphasizing 1800 A.D. through Modern Times
Year B- World History: emphasizing Renaissance through the Early Modern Period (1400-1800 A.D.)
The second half of this package includes a dynamic trimester-based course comprised of three distinct disciplines: Fine Art, Physical Education and Music. Middle School students will begin the year with 10-week instruction in Art, then moving through PE and Music for 11 weeks in each course. Students will explore various aspects of art and art media. Music will encourage students to engage with melody, rhythm, famous composers, and they will be exposed to simple musical instruments. The PE course will promote fitness, teamwork, and motor skills through sports, games, and wellness exercises.
