This year-long course package for grades 7 and 8, offers History, Logic, World Geography and PE to round out all subjects needed for a Middle School student when taken in conjunction with the Full Day Middle School package. 7th and 8th grade students follow a 2-year cycle for History that picks up where our Elementary students leave off on the history timeline. (Our Monday 7th- 8th Language Arts classes also follow this same history time period with writing and literature.) In history class, students will explore the rich tapestry of US and World history through interactive lessons, activities, and discussions. As students journey through key events, figures, and themes that have shaped our world, students will develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of historical events and their relevance to today’s world.
The second half of this package includes a dynamic trimester-based course comprised of three distinct disciplines: Logic, Physical Education, and Geography. On Wednesdays, Middle School students will complete a 2-year cycle of World Geography and Logic. They will begin the year with 10-week instruction in Logic. This year’s logic unit will focus on thinking critically and building their reasoning skills for writing and clear communication. Students will complete 3 lessons at home as homework to be ready for interactive class discussions and activities. In the 2nd trimester, the PE course will promote fitness, teamwork, and motor skills through sports, games, and wellness exercises. During the 3rd trimester, students will have an in-depth study of World Geography. Students will complete one half of the textbook each year at home. In class, students will go into more details about the land features, culture, and history of each country through projects, discussions, and activities. Students will also work on memorizing and drawing the map of the world which will work towards the final Robinson Map Project. Students who complete both years of Geography in 7th and 8th grade, as well as the final project, may receive one credit of High School Geography.
