This comprehensive full-day course package, designed for students in grades 7 and 8, includes three core subjects and, when combined with the Half-Day option, rounds out the required core curriculum for middle school students. The full day program consists of Math, Language Arts, and Science, delivered over 16 weeks per semester. Classes are held one day per week on Mondays. 7th and 8th grade students will follow a 2-year cycle for science, literature, writing. Literature and Writing follow our history time period for the year to help students apply what they are learning to their writing. In Math class, students will learn to take notes on Algebra concepts as they build their own resource notebook to be ready for high school math. They will also work cooperatively to apply math skills to the real world to make learning higher level math concepts meaningful and engaging. For science, students will study General Science where all areas of science will be covered over the 2-year cycle to give them a solid foundation for deeper study in high school. The Scientific Method, the engineering process, as well as famous scientists and scientific history are also covered in both years. In class, students will complete labs, projects, and other immersive science activities which will build their curiosity for their reading and assignments at home during the week.
